Optimising ITs Todd Gifford has become a Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP), the gold standard qualification for information security specialists.
To gain the rigorous accreditation, Todd had to demonstrate more than five years experience of working in the sector, as well as sitting six hours of exams covering eight key information security areas.
To maintain the status moving forward, he will need to submit 40 hours of continuous professional development (CPD) every year.
'We are very proud of Todd and the work he put in to gain the CISSP certification,' explained Gary Smith, Managing Director of Optimising IT. 'Information security is important to every aspect of our business as outsourced IT service providers. Having access to Todds expertise and knowledge is a huge advantage for our clients, as businesses large and small face the growing risks of cyber crime.'
The CISSP qualification is an international standard in 143 countries across the globe and it is administered by the International Information Systems Security Certification Consortium (ISC)2. In the UK there are just 5,402 people who have the accreditation.
The eight areas covered in CISSP are:
Security and Risk Management
Communications and Network Security
Identity and Access Management
Security Assessment and Testing
Software Development Security
'I am really pleased that my experience and knowledge is recognised with the CISSP certification. A lot of effort went into obtaining it and this will continue as information security moves at such a rapid pace,' said Todd. 'At Optimising IT we are committed to working with clients to keep them safe and I am confident this certification gives them independent assurance that they are in safe hands.'
