Last week we held our annual C2S Cyber event at UOG courtesy of Professor K. Bechkoum PhD, BSc (Hons), FBCS, CITP Head of School of
Computing and Technology at the University. The event was a great success topping last year%u2019s session by GCHQ with the Countries leading experts on Cyber Security. Buck Roger, the newly appointed Cyber Officer for the Bank of England and a great authority on Cyber In the UK, shared with our members top tips and provided real value. Protecting the Bank of England has never been more difficult, having successfully protected the Countries wealth against war, theft and crime for hundreds of years they now face their biggest challenge %u2013 cyber-crime! Buck shared strategies used by the bank to help combat this and will be coming back later in the year to run a session on their game of threats - look out for that date!
Prof Richard Benham, who wrote the recently released white paper for the IoD http://www.iod.com/~/media/5A14AA78CE4E42DBA51E90E5BB80094A.ashx talked us through the latest STATS and the thinking around Cyber security from some of the Countries most successful CEO/Directors. On the back of this report there is a huge appetite amongst UK business leaders for a certified cyber Boardroom Strategy ensuring a minimum standard in business, helping with staff and supply chain issues. The IoD and Richard are collaborating as we speak and we'll be bringing this opportunity directly to you in Sept. The overriding advise on the day and research shows that the lead on Cyber Crime must come from the top down and starts in the boardroom. Your Cyber Strategy should be regularly tested and adjusted to ensure it remains robust and relevant to today's issues and threats.
Prof Kamal Bechkoum rounded off the session explaining the plans for Cyber supremacy in Gloucestershire and offered members the chance to attend his inaugural lecture at UOG on The date is 6 June.
