Sustainable Direction helps Exterion Media win 2Billion advertising contract

Exterion Media, Europes largest privately held Out-of-Home advertising business, has a nationwide portfolio with key sites in and around London.  It was a holder of a concessions contract for advertising on the London Underground, licensed by Transport for London (TfL).

In 2015 TfL started the renewal process on the concession, worth £2billion over eight years, and opened it up to competitive bidding.  At the same time, Exterion Media recognised that they required assistance on the Environmental and Sustainability elements of the tender.

Sustainable Direction was retained by Exterion Media in August 2015 and through dedicated support and close liaison, Sustainable Direction together with Exterion Media developed the tender submission with respect to sustainability and reducing environmental impacts, bringing existing initiatives to light and helping Exterion Media communicate the things they were already doing and improving for real business impact.

Exterion Media was successful in being awarded the £2billion contract in March 2016.  Exterion Media said:

'Thank you Sustainable Direction for your contribution and support, all of which made a considerable contribution to this success' Karen Gilbert, Head of Facilities at Exterion Media (UK).

'We are delighted to have been awarded TfLs London Rail advertising contract and we greatly appreciate the support Sustainable Direction provided during the tender period.  I was particularly impressed with how they helped align both our long term Environment and Energy objectives, and medium term planning activities with those of TfL.  Together we have jointly delivered our ISO 50001 certification for energy management, and alongside our 140001 Environmental certification this places us as the most responsible Out-of-Home advertiser in the UK' Adrian Lovejoy, Service Delivery Director, Exterion Media (UK).
