On Thursday morning C2S members met at Randall & Payne to learn more about R&D Tax Credits; what Innovate UK (the innovation funding agency of the government) are focusing their £560m budget on; R&D Bridge funding from Natwest and a case study of R&D Tax Credits from GBE Fire & Safety.
Peter Dirken the Strategic Partnerships Manager at Innovate UK spoke about the changes going on at the Agency. How they have become more focused and streamlined the application processes. Their mission is to stimulate economic growth through supporting business-led innovation and luckily for the region they are based in Swindon so very accessible.  Over 60% of their funding goes to SME's, the rest to Universities and large companies.  They will only fund disruptive technologies that are going to be game changes and most of their programmes are competitions aimed at getting the best ideas into the market and they are always over subscribed. Peter is happy to talk to any company before you look at applying.
The picture for R&D Tax Credits was very positive in terms of the opportunity to claim and who and what you can claim for. Quite a few businesses who attended the workshop are now looking at claiming! It was a great session and which we will run again.  Please contact James Geary at Randall & Payne if you want to know more about R&D Tax Credits.
