The staff at BPE Solicitors have never been shy about supporting charities or tackling a challenge and the legal firm has now signed up as a corporate partner of Macmillan Cancer Support. The two year partnership aims to raise more than they ever have before in support of the good cause.
The Cheltenham based solicitors kicked off the fundraising with their Christmas cards, which included a DIY origami Santa kit. The cards were sent to more than 500 clients and friends and the campaign created a real buzz on social media in the run up to Christmas. BPE pledged a donation to Macmillan for each tweeted photo of an origami Santa which totalled just over £200 %u2013 a great start to the two-year charity partnership, but still only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the overall objective.
John Workman, Senior Partner, explains: %u201CMore ambitious than anything we%u2019ve previously attempted, the campaign target is to raise enough money to fully fund two Macmillan nurses. We hope to achieve this with a number of events, culminating with a sponsored walk of the entire 297-mile Macmillan Way.%u201D
The walk will take place from 1-29 July and will see hundreds of people from BPE and a number of national corporate sponsors walking the route from Boston on the Lincolnshire coast, to Abbotsbury in Dorset. Anyone wishing to support or join the legal firm for a leg of the walk can get in touch to discuss how they can become involved. Alternatively, donations can be made at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/MacmillanWayChallenge and any company wishing to provide corporate sponsorship or support should get in touch via email at email@example.com
Rob Bryan, Equity Partner, was inspired to launch the campaign with BPE after experiencing the dedicated care and support of Macmillan nurses when both his mother and a close friend received care from the charity. %u201CCancer is something that has affected too many of us %u2013 either directly, or through someone we know and love. Raising money for Macmillan directly funds specialist nurses and care for those who desperately need it,%u201D says Rob.
Macmillan nurses also offer comfort and solace to those who are coming to terms with what%u2019s happening to the person they love. %u201CWe think that%u2019s a worthy cause and, with Macmillan having to meet the entire training and employment costs of a nurse%u2019s first year of employment, one worth supporting and that%u2019s why we are launching this special challenge,%u201D Rob comments.
Why not join BPE for part of their walk, or donate through their JustGiving page %u2013 start the New Year off on a positive footing and help Macmillan Cancer Support in its essential work.
